In accordance with traditional practice, over
600 acres of land on the HONG KONG side of the border owned
by residents of FU SHING Commune, is still farmed (collect-
ively) by Commune members who cross the frontier for this
purpose.
4.
The total population of the Commune is approx-
imately 22,500 persons, the great majority being Cantonese-
speaking natives of PO ON County, although numerous Hakka
natives and a small number of resettled persons from other
parts of Kwangtung Province are also to be found.
