*C Sir Anthony Royle (Richmond): To ask the Secretary
of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will give an assurance that there is no intention to change or reduce the British political and military commitment to Hong Kong.
We have no intention of abandoning Hong Kong. On the question of defence, the present agreement on Hong Kong's contribution to the cost of the garrison expires in March 1976. The successor agreement will of course be the subject of consultation with the Hong Kong Government at the appropriate
time.
