Sharjah. The British Military Assistance Team will
be withdrawn during 1975.
11. CENTO. The minimum military support of CENTO would
include continued membership of the Military Committee and
retention of the UK Permanent Military Deputy and attached
officers.

Cyprus
The FCO consider it necessary to maintain both
the Sovereign Base Areas (SBAS) and other facilities.
The Cypriot Government, and public opinion, may not continue to accept UK retention of land and facilivies in Cyprus unless a reasonable level of miliary activity is evident. Additionally our CENTO and NATO Allies
are likely to expect us to perform appropriate and
