32. In paragraph 48(a), last sentence, delete the figure
7,300 and substitute 9,500.
33. In paragraph 49, at the end of the first sentence, the
insertion of the FCO amendment was agreed.
34. In paragraph 52, third sentence, after the words "at the
Third Level", insert the words "reductions from the LTC 74 level".
35. In paragraph 52(a) the CDS said that he had some detailed
amendments which could be given to the Secretariat.
36. In paragraph 54, at the end of the first sentence insert
the words "and can only be carried out sensibly in the light of
at least preliminary decisions about the level of defence
expenditure over the next few years". At the end of the fifth
sentence, add the words "and of preventing the disruption of the
MBFR negotiations".

Paragraph 55 was deleted and replaced by "We must reckon that
formal NATO consultation will take a minimum of two months to
reach the point at which Ministers feel able to take final
decisions".
38. In paragraph 58(c), at the end of the first line, the word
"adequate" should be inserted before "contribution". At the end of
this sentence, the words "in what directions should officials
look in order to make such savings?" were deleted and the
following words substituted "which aspects would Ministers
