17. Tasks. The recognised distribution of responsibilities between Police and Army along the Border is as follows:

(2) Apprehension of illegal immigrants.

Ending as promptly as possible any violation of British territory by groups or individuals.

Surveillance along and across the frontier.

(3) Deterring or containing and, if necessary,

evicting any armed or other major violation of the frontier.
