(b) subject to (c) below, "family" when used in

relation to passages means the officer's wife, sols under the age of 19 years (21 years in the case of Section 11 (v)) and unmarried daughters under the age of 21 years. If in the course of an officer's tour a son attains the age of 19 or an unmarried daughter the age of 21, Govern- ment will pay only that proportion of his or her passage allowance which had been accumulated up to and including the day preceding the nine- teenth or twenty-first birthday respectively, notwithstanding that the son or daughter may have left Hong Kong before reaching the age of 19 or 21;

wherever the person engaged is granted passages for himself and his family such passages are limited to not more than six fullfare passages. Officers appointed from overseas

Fassages to Hong Kong will be provided for the officer and his family on first appointment. and, subject to satisfactory completion of the tour of service and to the regulations in force from time to time, to his country of origin (see Section of this liemorandum). If the officer is not returning for a further tour of service, he must claim and avail himself of passages to his country of origin within one month of ceasing duty. If the officer is return- ing to duty, he will be provided with passages back to Hong Kong on completion of his leave; in such circumstances, a return booking will be made in Hong Kong before the officer's depart- ure on leave.

Officers appointed locally

Passages to Hong Kong will not be provided for the officer on first appointment. Passages

may be provided for his family if they are resident outside Hong Kong at the time of his appointment, but any excess ver the cost of standard passages from the officer's country of origin will be met by the officer. Subject to satisfactory completion of the tour of service and to the regulations in force from time to time passages to his country of origin (see Section 9), If the officer is not return- ing for a further tour of service, he must claim and avail himself of passages to his country of origin within one month of ceasing duty. If the officer is returning to duty, will be provided with passages back to Hong Kong on completion of his leave; in such circumstances, a return booking will be made in Hong Kong before the officer's departure on leave.

(iii) Subject to Establishment Regulations on booking of Passages, an officer may make his own arrangements for a passare and claim reimbursement from Governments of an amount not exceeding the cost of Government of the standard passage for which the officer is eligible.
