Overseas Education Allowances
Note: This circular must be given the widest possible
circulation and should be read by all Heads of Departments, Departmental Secretaries and Accountants and all officers dealing with establishment matters. A copy of the circular should be sent to each officer outside the Colony.
As announced in 2.C. No. 52/72 Government has approved revised non-pensionable Overseas Education Allowances (i.e. Boarding School and Day School Allowances). It is the purpose of this circular to promulgate regulations governing payment of the se allowances.

(i)
Subject to succeeding paragraphs the allowances are only
to officers (including widows) on probation or confirmed to the permanent and pensionable establishment, or on agreement, or temporary transfer from the British Civil Service or other administrations, Resident site staff employed by Consulting Engineers on behalf of Government and who have signed the approved agreement of employment with Government, or its representatives are eligible for Overseas Education Allowances on the same conditions Government officers on agreement. Married women officers and any officers serving on temporary terms of service are not eligible for these allow ances. The eligibility of divorcees legally separated women afficers and officers on secondment will be dealt with individually.

time.
OFFICERS ON OVERSEAS TERMS OF SERVICE
A. Allowances for Full Time and Weekly Boarding Schools

Payment will be subject to the following conditions which are retrospective to the beginning of the school term commencing next after 1st April 1971:
(i) Children for whom an allowance may be paid
Allowances may be claimed for the son or daughter of an eligible officer, including a step-son, step- daughter, lawfully adopted son or lawfully adopted daughter, being unmarried and wholly dependent upon the officer.
