I hope that all has been and is going well with your visits to the DES and the ILEA. This further note is to give you details of the programme which Mr J R Buntin,, (formerly Director-General of CEO and now Education Adviser to the British Council), has been able to arrange for you with his collegues for Wednesday next, 4 September. As elsewhere, the incidence of the leave season has complicated matters but it has been possible to arrange moetings with the English Teaching Division Inspectorate and with those officers of the Education and Science Division who handle curriculum development, sound and TV Broadcasting and audio visual aids. Mr H B Bending, Hoad of a Seotion of the ETUI would accordingly be glad for you to call on him on the wednesday at 10.15 a.m. at State House, High Holborn, London, WC1 (Telephone number: 01-242-9020). At about 11 o'clock you are asked to move on to Tavistock House, Tavistock Square, London Cl (South Entrance, Room 66: Telephone number 01-367-0166) where John Deakin, Deputy Director of the Education Projects Department will be expecting you at 11.15 a.. Tom Singleton, now Assistant Controller of the Education and Science Division, will join you after that and would be glad if you would have lunch with him. Immediately after lunch Hert Bartram and Richard Sherrington will briefly introduce you to the mysteries of the Audio-Visual Department so that you will have finished a busy day in time to make that planned early get away to Yorkshire.
I have arranged for you to meet 3ir Alec Clegg the next day, ie Thursday 5 September at 10.30 a.m. at his house in the village of Saxton, nr.Tadonster.
I will arrange other appointments for you in Yorkshire, following the hour or so which you are likely to spend with Sir Aleo.
As in the case of earlier notes to you about your programme, I am sending a copy of this letter to Mr Stuart at the Hong Kong and Indian Ocean Department.
