Further to my letter of 29 August and to our conversation of this morning I can now let you know that I have arranged for you to meet Reg Eyles, the Chief Education Officer of the new Metropolitan „istrict of Wakefield, and an old friend of mine, on Thursday afternoon, 5 September at 2.30 in his office at 8 Bond Street, Wakefield. This should be quite easy for you to do by car following your session with Byles' and my former Chief Officer in the morning.
The mammoth area of the west kiding was, of course, hacked to pieces by the local government reor anisation effective on 1 April this year but the Wakefield Metropolitan Jistrict has collected in this reorganisation major responsibility for some of the very interesting and effective institutions which the West
iding in its affluence and wisdom was able to establish. te: Eyles will arrange for you to visit some of these places in the afternoon immediately after you have seen him.
I will send you a further note about a possible programme for Friday 6 September as soon as I can. As usual I am sending a copy of this to Mr Stuart at the HKIO Department.
