MP'S LETTERS:
1.
ALLEGED CRUELTY TO DOGS IN HONG KONG
Lord Balniel MP has written to Miss Lestor enclosing a
letter from one of his constituents, Mrs Vera Galloway, about
an article which appeared in the Sunday People on 23 June.
2.
When the article first appeared we sent a copy to
Hong Kong and consulted them on how to deal with the letters we expected it to lead to. They have now given their advice in Hong Kong telegram No 741. I accordingly submit a draft reply. to Lord Balniel, based on this advice.
3.
I also submit draft replies on the same lines to
similar letters from Mr Peter Rees MP to the Secretary of State
and from Mr Ernle Money MP to Mr Ennals.
4.
I propose to reply similarly direct to a number of other letters on the subject from private individuals and
organisations.
5.
The Department's Legal Adviser agrees.
