The answers to the 3 points that you asked me to check on are as follows:-

i)

ii)

iii)

Giant Salamanders are included in Appendix 1 of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The Giant Chinese Salamander is listed under as the Andrias (Megalobatrachus) davidianus davidianus (sub heading Urodela at the top of page 28.)

There are no restrictions on the importation of Salamanders into the UK. The DOE say that they are not included in the Schedule to the Animals (Restriction of Importation) Act 1964.

The UK has not ratified the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The DOE's line is that they will ratify it "as soon as practicable. "with Apparently there are difficulties the EEC counties The USA is the only country to have ratified the Convention so far.
