I have been asked to thank you for your letter of arch about the wildlife trade between China and Hong Kong.

The Government of Hong Kong have already taken certain measures to deal with this problem for instance they have banned the import of all species listed in Schedule I to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The issue is, however, complex and we are still in the process of consulting the Governor of Hong Kong and our Embassy at loking to discover what further measures can be taken to improve the situation.

I hope to be able to send you a full reply shortly.
