Sirs,

Re: BBC-4 Radio Programme, Thursday 6th December

"Who is Killing the China Animals"?

We would respectfully ask that you obtain a transcript from the BBC and consider whether your department can make urgent representations to the Chinese Embassy in London and to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Hong Kong, to take up the matter with the Chinese Government in Peking, pointing out the existence of this appalling and increasingly destructive trade which can only, in the long run, seriously affect the ecology/ agriculture position in China.

With respect, this appears to us to be the best line to take, though our Conference is naturally deeply concerned by the reports of appalling cruelty to birds and animals and also of want on destruction of endangered species.
