Explanatory Note
(This Note is not part of the regulations,
but is intended to indicate their general purport.)
These regulations control trading in all
animals and birds, other than some domestic animals
and poultry.
Regulation 4 prohibits animal trading except
in accordance with a licence, which the Director of
Agriculture and Fisheries may grant under regulation 5.

Regulation 6 prescribes the standards of the
premises at which animal trading may be carried on.
These standards must be complied with before a licence
is granted.
Regulation 7 prohibits a licensee from altering
or modifying the licensed premises, without the
Director's permission.
Regulation 8 requires a licensee to keep all
animals and birds intended for the purpose of trading at
the licensed premises.
The requirements with which a licensee
has to comply, for the purpose of maintaining sanitation
and good husbandry, and set out in regulation 9.
Regulation 10 specifies the animals and birds
which are to be kept separately, notwithstanding that
they are of the same, or a compatible, genus.
