Before the dissolution of Parliament on 8 February,
Mr Anthony Grant MP wrote to the Minister of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food forwarding a letter from his constituent, Mrs O M Hume of 48 Oakfield Avenue, Kenton, Harrow, about the slaughter of cattle in Hong Kong. This letter has been passed on to Mr Blaker for reply.

The question of the humane slaughter of cattle appears to be slightly different from the cruelty to animals question which we are dealing with in connection with imports from China. I should be grateful therefore if you could advise us on a suitable reply to Mr Grant's letter. It would be helpful if you could let us have this by the beginning of March.
