Thank you for your reminder of 6 February about the correspondence from Sir John's constituent concerning the import of wildlife from China into Hong Kong.

Mr. Blaker has asked me to say that he regrets he is not yet in a position to let Sir John have a full reply. But this does not mean that no action is being taken. The Governor of Hong Kong has already taken measures to deal with this problem. However, the issues are complex and we are still consulting both the Governor and with our Embassy in Peking about the next step. Mr. Blaker will be getting in touch with Sir John as soon as these consultations are complete.
