GENERALISED SCHEME OF PREFERENCES: HONG KONG
1. I discussed with Mr Anson his minute of 24 October about the letters which the Minister of State has received from Mr K B Purnell who recently led a Trade Mission to the Far East. We agreed that it would be more appropriate for Mr Hattersley to write to Mr Purnell about the letter which the latter received from the Director of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce about the Community's Generalised Scheme of Preferences than to the Director himself.
2. I submit
a draft letter to Mr Purnell which has been cleared with the Department of Trade and with the Hong Kong and Indian Ocean Department.
