numerous other publications (over 70 newspapers are published in Chinese daily) many of which also receive our material.

Generally the English press will accept a large proportion of our material, depending on its subject. "Soft sell" features, news items and pictures with captions are accepted readily (and indeed some is snapped up as good free copy to help fill the two large (40 page) English dailies working with narrow profit margins and consequently small staffs). BITN items on new products and processes are also very acceptable to a number of trade periodicals (most of which circulate around SE Asia) and, to a lesser extent, depending on subject, to the daily press which is keenly interested in business news. Some technical articles can be placed with appropriate, selected publications.

In general, almost any subject seems to be capable of being placed, if time permits, in the wide field of Hong Kong publications, but an exception is

agriculture where only publications really in need of material to pad out their pages will take articles or pictures on e.g. the Royal Show or British farming methods (for the simple reason of course that Hong Kong agriculture has practically nothing in common with Britain's and is of minor importance in Hong Kong's economy).

Topical Commentaries and information about Britain's economy and economic policies is accepted,

apparently gladly, by leading editors and "opinion moulders" but much tends to be kept for reference

purposes. Nevertheless, the LPS Economic Correspondent's "pieces" and some Topical Commentaries are published from time to time although, understandably, they are regarded with some scepticism by editors who prefer
