No comments/suggestions.

(i) Parking meters: coins required in the

foreseeable future are 10%, 50%, $1 and

possibly $2.

(ii) Multi-storey car parks:

possible introduction

likely coin require-

of automatic equipment;

ments are $1, $5 and possibly $10.

(iii) Public transport: only the "Star" Ferry

Co., Ltd. likely to use 5 cent coins,

therefore 20 cent preferable to 25 cent coin. (iv) Bus companies would welcome a $2 coin. (v) $5 coin would be useful for some ferry

services and for possible high class

bus services.

The Commissioner for Transport, to whom

correspondence received from transport

undertakings was copied, supplemented the

above comments as follows:-

(i) Car Parks: In view of the revised fees

proposed in the budget speech the

introduction of a $2 coin would be of

advantage.

(ii) Public Transport Fares: Companies generally

endorse the suggestion that a 20 coin

should be introduced. There was some support

for a $2 coin but it is likely that this

would have been increased if operators had

based their comments on future requirements

rather than present conditions.
