G.F. 323

CONFIDENTIAL # 機密

(11)

40

We suggest that tenders be invited for the purchase of coins withdrawn from circulation. (Chapter IV, paragraph 70).

(12) We consider that an early decision on our proposals is desirable (Chapter IV, paragraph 73).

(13) We have concluded that in accordance with the Hong Kong (Coinage) Order 1936 only the Master of the Mint can mint Hong Kong coins. (Chapter V, paragraph 76).

(14) We consider that the initial ordering quantities for the new 20 cent and $2 coins should be 70 and 60 millions respectively. (Chapter V, paragraph 77).

(15)

We believe the total of coin-operated machines other than parking meters is so small that conversion costs resulting from our recommendations would be insignificant. (Chapter V, paragraph 81).

(16)

We estimate that the maximum expenditure that could arise from the conversion of parking meters would be $520,000. (Chapter V, paragraph 82).

(17)

We estimate that there will be substantial savings in annual coinage expenditure following the introduction of the new range

of coins and that a once-for-all profit will result from the changeover. (Chapter V, paragraphs 84 and 85).
