None of the comments we received from the public concerning
coin design were of practical application.

However, the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations has for a number of years been pressing the Government to give consideration to designing a coin (or coins) which would commemorate the various F.A.0. programmes such as 'Food For All' and 'More Food From The Sea'. We are not convinced that such coins would be suitable
to Hong Kong but we make no firm recommendations.

The Royal Mint have advised us that the Queen's effigy on the obverse of Hong Kong's present coins is out of date and now rarely used. We recommend that all coins ordered, regardless of changes in specifications, be minted with the latest effigy authorised for use on
Commonwealth coinage.
64.
We propose that the inscriptions/motif on both sides of the 20 and 50 cent coins and ultimately the 10 cent coin should be similar to that on the present 5, 10 and 50 cent coins and that the dollar denominations (1, 2, and 5) should be similar to the present one dollar coin.
