It will be seen that though the total annual income budget

of the ILO since 1970 has increased substantially the UK

contribution both in terms of US dollars and sterling has kept

reasonably steady. This is principally due to the reduction of

the assessed percentage applicable to the UK in the scale of

contributions.

ILO Technical Assistance Programmes

3. Only a small part of the ILO technical assistance programme

is financed from the Regular Budget. Expenditure in the biennium

1970-71 amounted to $4.178 million and in 1972-73 to $2.684 million.

This sharp decline was due to the financial difficulties resulting

from the delay in the payment of the US contribution to the Budget.

It is estimated that expenditure in the biennium 1974-75 will be

about $4.7 million. By far the larger part of ILO technical

assistance is financed by UNDP with the ILO acting as an agent for

the execution of projects. Expenditure in 1970-71 and in 1972-73

held steady at around $60 million. It is however estimated that

the biennium 1974-75 will show a slight decline to $56.5 million.
