8. In relation to the gross domestic product, Government consumption expenditure was fairly stable (at about 64%), in current price terms, in the period 1969 to 1973. But, as Table 4 shows, there was some tendency for the proportion for total Government expenditure (that is, including capital expenditure) to increase in this period.
