Amend the Employment Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the
advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
Short title and
commencement.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Employment
(Amendment) Ordinance 1974 and shall come into operation
on a day to be appointed by the Governor by notice
in the Gazette.
Amendment of section 3. (Cap. 57.)

Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is
amended in subsection (2)(a) by deleting "fifteen
hundred" and substituting the following
"two thousand".
Explanatory Memorandum
The purpose of this Bill is to amend the
Employment Ordinance so as to raise to $2,000 per
month the upper limit of the wages which may be earned
by persons employed in non-manual labour before they
fall outside the scope of the Ordinance. The change has
become necessary in consequence of fall in the value
of money.
