that a period exceeding three days refers to y

three working days in a week and not three consecutive

days;

(c) amendment of new section 20F(2) to provide that

only a period of lay-off in respect of which no

claim has been made by the employee under section 200

will be treated as maintaining the continuity' of a

contract.

The Council noted:

(a) that Dr S.Y. CHUNG would discuss with the Attorney

General various matters of detail concerning the

bill which he might wish to raise during ita pasta ge

through the Legislative Council;

(b) that separate consideration might be given to a

suggestion that a payment along the lines of

severance pay might be made to the estate of an

employee who dies from a cause other than that

arising out of and in the course of employment;

(c) that the publicity concerning the bill might refer

to the provisions governing severance payments in

other countries.
