I had my introductory meeting with Lord Goronwy- Roberts this afternoon and he mentioned my recent visit to Hong Kong, indicating that he would like to see my report at an early date. I said that the report would only now have reached Hong Kong and that it might be preferable if he were to see it and the Governor's comments on it and the Department's here - at the same time. He agreed but said that in view of Parlia- mentary interest and the continued pressure he expected, he hoped it could be put to the Governor that we should like his views to reach us quickly (certainly in advance of his visit here in June. I said I would convey this wish to you.
