1. Just a note to applaud gently your speech to the Rotary Club reported in the South China Morning Post of 30 May.
2. If I may say so the passage on Hong Kong's freedom to dispose of its own reserves is the sort of illusion-clearing exercise which is sometimes badly needed. I take back the remarks made at our meeting in the Department of Trade and Industry about the need for Hong Kong officials to explain the position and policies of HIG or at least the personal implications of those remarks.
3. If the Governor agrees I expect to be in Hong Kong about the end of the month and will hope to see you then.
