9. Unions wishing to amalgamate may do so, with the consent of

the Registrar, but the formation and membership of trade union federations is confined to registered trade unions, the members of

which are engaged or employed within the same trade, industry or

occupation.

Trade unions have the right of appeal against decisions of

the Registrar to refuse or cancel registration, to refuse to

register a change of name, or to consent to amalgamation or

federation. Such appeals are to a Judge of the Supreme Court

with an additional right of appeal from the Supreme Court to the

Full Court.
