1. Many thanks for your letter of 23 March about your visit to London later this year during your leave.
2. Provisionally I suggest that we earmark Wednesday 11 September next for discussions in the FCO with a meeting from 11 am onwards in John Champion's office on staffing matters (recruitment secondments, conditions of service etc). I'll let you have a note of particular matters we might discuss at a later date. I've asked Andrew Stuart's Personal Assistant to keep the afternoon clear for dis- cussions with HKIOD.
