PROPOSED VISIT BY LORD GORONWY-ROBERTS
1.
Lord and Lady Goronwy-Roberts will represent HMG at
the celebrations of the Centenary of the Deed of Cession of
Fiji, from about 8/9 to 11/12 October. Lord Goronwy-Roberts
wishes to take the opportunity to visit other countries
within his area of responsibility and it has been proposed
that he should visit Australia and New Zealand and Hong Kong,
2. Because of other commitments, he would plan to go
straight to Fiji. Subject to your views, we would suggest
that he go on to New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong in
that order and spend 3 or 4 working days in each.
3. You should know that Lord Goronwy-Roberts has already
mentioned the possibility of visiting Australia informally
to Minister at Australia House, who warmly welcomed it.
