political briefing for MPs making visits to
British forces overseas.

3. For the Hong Kong briefing we believe it would be useful if their Commissioner,
Mr S T Kidd, could also attend. We normally
take him into our confidence on most matters
affecting Hong Kong, up to and including Confidential and believe that he could provide
useful additional briefing, for these Members of Parliament visiting Hong Kong. Hong Kong have been pressing for the inclusion of their Commissioner in such briefing meetings for some time and we have already been in touch with the MOD about it (S4c(Air), Miss Ashley). I hope therefore, that Mr John can agree to this.
