PARLIAMENTARY VISIT TO THE SERVICES IN HONG KONG

1.

Thank you for your letter of 9 August. I was glad to know that you and the Secretary for Security would be meeting the parliamentary delegation on 12 September, and that you would be reinforcing our briefing then.

2. Sillars has a persistent interest in labour affairs in Hong Kong, and asks many parliamentary questions on the subject.

Early last year he put down 41 all at once. So I think it very likely that he for one will want to spend a little time at least looking at matters in this field.

3. It was however made clear at the briefing meeting that there would not be much time for this sort of thing. We will however reinforce this point if we can find a chance to do so perhaps when we send the written briefing material.
