The fact that their aid is untied among contributors means that recipients get
their goods at competitive prices, while the institutions in general are good
managers of their funds and exert a wholesome influence on the policies and
programmes of developing countries. Increasing our aid giving in step with other
donors through multilateral institutions would, therefore, be both attractive
commercially and valuable developmentally.
