On Taiwan, we are still looking at the possibilities for countering US political intervention. Ministers in the BAT are seized of the problem. Maybe we shall find a way to do something informally. Unfortunately, the lack of diplomatic relations makes any formal intervention impossible.
On Hong Kong Hass Transit, we are giving thought to the beat tactics and timing of any effort designed to cut GEC-Elliott Automation in on a Japanese contract. Tom Aston has picked up a rumour that Jardine latheson may have put out a feeler tô CNC in London. Have you heard of any such approach? If you make enquiries please enjoin discretion on all concerned.
