w/377 I enclose a copy of a letter of 19 December I have received from
Harry Codd of GEC-Elliott Automation. You may be interested in the part about Taiwan but this letter is addressed more to the second page of Harry's letter in which he explains that GEC- Elliott Automation remain interested in securing sub-contracts from the Japanese for particular parts of the scheme. I have sent Harry Codd a holding letter of which I also enclose a copy. I would propose as a next step to send a letter to Tom Aston in Hong Kong on the lines of the draft enclosed. At the same time as sending the draft to you I am copying it to CRE and. ECGD. I would hope to get off an agreed letter some time next week.
