I have sent a Flash telegram to Aston by the secure channel asking him to try to divert Mason's telegram at the DWS office before it gets into the Hong Kong Government machine. He has been able to do this before but I fear that, on this occasion, it may be too late. Coggins has also kindly agreed to remind Mason of the dangers of this communication link. I hope no damage may have been done but, given that the telegram anyway seems to misrepresent our position, I fear we may be in for some trouble.
