You will recall the correspondence between the Prime Minister and your Minister about Hong Kong shipping questions.
I see that the Prime Minister seat a minute to
Mr. Heseltine on 24 November inviting him to submit new proposals and a draft letter to Mr. Y.K. Pao. Subsequently, Mr. Heseltine was present at a meeting with the Prime Minister and Mr. Pao at Chequers on 2 December. I should be grateful
if you could let me know when you expect your Minister to send a reply to Mr. Heath's minute of 24 November last.
I am sending copies of this letter to Alexander (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and Caines (Department of Trade and Industry).
