(4) On 12th January, 1973, officers of the Preventive Service conducted a routine ship search of the m.v. Ravi', which arrived in Hong Kong from Singapore. Under a bundle of logs in the engineer's store they found a polythene bag containing a quantity of cannabis resin. The weight seized was 222 grammes. Enquiries failed to establish ownership of the drugs and no arrest was made.

(5) On 15th January, 1973, an American male, Ernest Robert WEBSTER, 31 years, arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. WEBSTER was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and a toilet roll found in his suitcase contained 14 grammes of cannabis. WEBSTER was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was convicted and fined $750.00-HK.

(6) On 12th March, 1973, an American female, Joan Katherine BEARD, 30 years, arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. She was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and in her travelling bag they found three polythene packets of cannabis weighing 14.8 grammes. BEARD was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. She was convicted and fined $250.00-HK.

(7) On 3rd April, 1973, an American male, Steven Gregory JOHNSTON, 22 years, arrived at Kai Tak Airport from Bangkok. He was searched by officers of the Preventive Service and an envelope found in his travelling bag contained 0.3 grammes of salts of esters of morphine. JOHNSTON was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was convicted and sentenced to one month imprisonment.
