We enjoyed some success in 1972, but much more remains to be done. At year's end, U.S. missions in the selected 59 countries were requested to update the narcotics control action programs and to pro- vide recommendations for future actions to be undertaken in each country. A high-level commitment from host country governments remains a key factor in our cooperative programs. During the com- ing year, every viable forum for focusing attention on the problem will be sought; and we shall utilize every possible resource for mak- ing international narcotics control still more effective,
