HONGKONG citizens are handing together in an effort to extradite Peter Godber despite the fact that very little will come out of it."
This is the view gathered at a public discussion on the Godber affair organised by the Hongkong Federation Students yesterday.

Four Government officials were invited to attend the discussion. They were the Attorney General, Commissioner of Police, Sir Alastair Blair-Kerr and Mr Edmund Chow. However, all four were absent.
The HKFS declared in the meeting that the Hongkong Government did not respect the opinion of her citizens and that it did not want to express views on the matter before the public.
Mr Ma Man-fei, a speaker in the meeting, descrihod the Godber affair as a "the bitter bits" incident.
He felt that Godber's safe departure from the Colony was aided by some people.
"What people have to do is to chase after Godber,” Mr Ma remarked.
Dr Denny Huang doubted if Godber might be brought back to Hongkong but he felt that the whole task depended upon
the persistence of the citizens and the British Government.
Dr Huang said Hongkong laws were not perfect since they were for the rich people and not for the masses.
Mrs Elsic Elliot said the Godber affair was really а defiance of the laws and that it had effected Hongkong citizens, in particular the young population, and "therefore, he' must be extradited,'
"
She said that many Government officials wished and actually helped Godber to leave the Colony.
REPORT
"At least, they are suspected of advising Godber on some snags in the law and, I would say, this is the loophole of the legislation," Mrs Elliott added.
She suggested that an appropriate report be made on "The scandal of the Hongkong administration" to be revealed to other countries.
All three speakers agreed that a petition be made by the Hongkong people themselves to be sent directly to the British Government by a group of Hongkong representatives.
