I enclose for your information a copy of a recent letter to Mr Royle from Mrs Elliott, following the recent case of Chief Superintendent Godber. Mr Royle's Private Secretary has sent a bare acknowledgement.

Mrs Elliott's letter does not call for a reply and, as it would only enrage her if we followed the normal pattern of asking you to reply, we suggest that it is best left at our formal acknowledgement. You might, however, like to consider passing her letter to the Anti-Corruption Branch. her allegations - particularly paragraph 5 and the last sentence of paragraph 9 - are fairly serious and might merit investigation. Perhaps you could keep us informed!
