STERLING AGREEMENT: HONG KONG
1. You suggested a letter to the Treasury conveying the
gist of Hong Kong telegram No 931, without the elements that
would raise temperatures. FRD are less worried (Miss Pestell's
minute attached) but even if we include the reference to the
"undertaking" to consult in March, I think there is merit in a
faintly bowdlerised version. It also enables us to pass on the
news that Mr Haddon-Cave will be here at the end of the month.
2. As Mrs Hedley Miller is away I can myself write to
Mr St Clair and Mr Stone. Draft attached.
