But what does concern me is the very small number
of top-class financial advisers on whom you have to
rely. Haddon-Cave cannot do everything.
I would
like to be able to offer you both the best financial
advice available to us, and people to help carry it
into effect.
3. I would therefore like to propose that, whilst
you are back on leave, you should come here for talks
with our financial experts, with a view to considering
whether we might send some top class people to Hong
Kong in the autumn, to help Haddon-Cave get over this
hump. It will not be easy to choose the right people.
They will have to be first class professionals but
politically aware. This suggests a team of more than
one, including, perhaps, somebody from the Bank, with
FCO strengthening from either the economic or
political departments or both. But again this is
something we would like to discuss with you.
