6.* The Gibraltarians would wish to be assured that ›
the fundamental law of Spain would not override the
Gibraltar constitution and laws. The proposal that
Spanish law should apply in matters affecting the
internal and external security would be unacceptable to Gibraltarians since they would have no power to
judge or determine the conditions for this applic-
ation, which would in itself involve the subordination
of the Gibraltar constitution and laws. This is a
clear case of an area where no mutually acceptable
solution seems possible unless a transfer of sovereignty. could be accomplished in aontirely different way.
NATIONALITY

The necessity for each individual Gibraltarian
to make a choice, and the importance of this choice
in deciding a Gibraltarian's eligibility to hold
certain offices (see below, "Personnel") could Willerent cutim fa
the community. The proposals-under-this-heading-are
accordingly unacceptable as they stand.
