and have a preliminary talk with him. Sir M. Maclehose will be

ging straight to Invernesshire/but will be in the Office in
September at the same time as you. It may not be possible to
wait that long for discussions on the review of nationality and
sterling agreements and the Governor may have to come to London
in the next ten days. But in the meanwhile we will set in hand
the work on the general points made by the Governor about the
what all relationship between Britain and Hong Kong which, with these
various issues, has clearly been worrying him a lot recently.
We could send papers up to you during August with a view to a
discussion with the Governor in September.
