Mr Royle had decided to give the visitors a Reception at Marlborough House, although this
Department advised against it. I attach a copy
of the submission for your information.
Mr Royle's Private Secretary has asked if
IAD could bear the cost of the reception which
Mr Royle would like to hold in Marlborough House
on 19 June. As there will be about 35 in the
group from Hong Kong, the Reception vi ll presumably
need to be for about 60-70 people. I am in touch
with the Hong Kong Government Office about the
draft guest list.
I should be grateful to know
whether IAD can bear the cost of the reception and
whether this can be inserted as part of the
programme being arranged forthe visitors.
