PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT TO HONG KONG: STEERING BRIEF
1.
Mr Gwynn telephoned from the Treasury at 5 pm on 14 November to ask for a correction to be inserted in the steering brief. It was too late to accept this as the brief had already been run off and was on its way to the Cabinet Office. Mr Gwynn nonetheless asked for a record to be made that he had passed this amendment in case there was an opportunity to amend the steering brief later.
2. The amendment is to para 41 and the following should be inserted before the last sentence "other dependent territories do in fact contribute towards the cost of their defence".
3. He also asked that after "very large" in the first sentence in the same paragraph "and expensive" should be inserted.
