Minister for Trade & Consumer Affairs
Sir G Howe proposes to visit Hong Kong for two days,
probably at the beginning of May, to discuss British exports
and Hong Kong trade matters. The DTI have written to our
Private Office.
Hong Kong have been consulted and have agreed
(Hong Kong tel No 128).

Secretary of State for Trade & Industry and the Minister for Aerospace
Mr Walker and Mr Heseltine have been invited to Peking
for the British Industrial Technology Exhibition in March.
It is likely that both Ministers will be transitting Hong Kong
on 23/24 March and in early April on their return. Mr Heseltine
proposes to stop in Hong Kong on his return to visit aerospace
and shipping firms. Hong Kong have been consulted and have
agreed (Hong Kong tel No 97). Mr Walker's plans are still
uncertain.
4. Prime Minister
If the Prime Minister goes to China in September he plans
to stop in Hong Kong on his return.
