ask that visits should be laid on for him on similar lines to what is done for the H.P's who visit Hong Kong as guests of the Government. I think too that he should have meetings with DCNT and with SHA who should tell him of what is being done in Hong Kong to look after and protect the interests of the Chinese community there.

You will note from the telegram that Stephen Wong is making arrangements for Parry's accommodation.

He will also be making a good many arrangements for visits, otc., and though, so far as we know, this is a genuinely private invitation from Stephen Wong I think that Parry will come under a good deal of pressure from the Heung Yee Kuk. This is an additional reason for him to be given special treatment by the Government Webb-Johnson and I have little doubt that on his return to Britain his influence among the Chinese community in Liverpool and the north west will be considerable. It is essential that ho should be well disposed towards Hong Kong and the Government.
