Tony Royle's office tells me that you have been kind enough to offer to put my wife and myself up when we are in Singapore on our way to Brunei and then to Hong Kong. As Chairman of the All Farty Hong Kong Perliamentary Group the Governor has asked us out again to Hơng long to keep in touch with developments in the last nine months, and for my wife to have quite a major programme on her own as an Ex-President of our National Council of Voman and of the Women's National Commission of which she was co-Chairman, first with Judith Hart and then with Margaret Thatcher.
·
I shall fully understand if our suggested stay with you is inopportune and too long! But at the moment we have planned to leave lëndon on Friday, January 4th on flight BA 720 leaving London at 1510 whfch arrives, local tina Singapore, 1440 on Saturday, January 5th, Would it be possible to stay unt:11 Wednesday, January 9th when wo are due to leave at 0930 hours by 80456 for Brunai? If not you could possibly book us in some hotel. I know tha Blue Funnel directors in Liverpool very well indeed, and I hope I may have a chence of seeing their developments some time. I understand that their new building is almost completed. When I was there in 1970 it was only a model.
I wonder too whether it would be possible to meet some of those who are servicing the oil rigs, most of which I think are in Indonesian vaters, but with services based on Singapore, Kenneth Inchcape is an old friend of mine and I am writing to him.
May I leave to you what other things I ought to see and whom I should andeavour to meet,
H.E. Sir Sam Falle, KCVO., G., DSC.,
High Commissioner in Singapore,
